Audit RepresentationAudit DefenseAn audit is a lengthy and in-depth examination of a taxpayer's tax return. It can be initiated by any of the numerous reasons: an item on a tax return or tax return merely was elected for a random audit. Whatever the reason for a tax return audit, the audit process conceals danger for the unrepresented taxpayer. Additional information and detailed explanations are generally required, and additional years may be included. At the conclusion of the audit the IRS may propose additional tax, penalties and interest. However, the taxpayer may still have an opportunity to contest the audit deficiency. If you are representing yourself at an audit, and discover that you are “in trouble”, you have the right to stop the audit to obtain representation. San Diego Tax Attorneys will find out what can be done to help you. Whether you only require a short consultation, or you want to be fully represented, we’d be glad to help with either. Audit ReconsiderationIf you missed the audit or were poorly represented, San Diego Attorneys, in an effort to obtain an audit reconsideration, will contact the IRS and attempt to establish a basis for an audit reconsideration. Audit Reconsideration is at the discretion of the IRS - it is not the taxpayer's right. Some common reasons that IRS grants reconsideration are: Taxpayer did not meaningfully participate in the original audit. For example, his address had changed, but he had not notified IRS of the change, and he did not receive the audit notice.
If granted an audit reconsideration, the you will be given the opportunity to present the necessary documentation to have ground for the items contained on your tax return. If successful, the IRS will abate all or part of the audit deficiency that was assessed. Out tax lawyers in San Diego have successfully represented taxpayers in audits and has also requested audit reconsiderations after an audit deficiency has been assessed. If you have been notified that you will be audited, have been audited but the taxes have not yet been assessed, or recently have been audited and believe that the IRS' audit deficiency is incorrect, contact San Diego Tax Attorneys to make an appointment or to obtain additional information. San Diego Tax Attorneys will provide audit representation for you! |
